This event gives Trustees the essential knowledge about their statutory and other responsibilities, covering legal and financial duties and strategic behaviour. A vital session is included on preparing for the Data Protection changes focussing on GDPR. The content has been updated to include new scenarios including Cyber crime, and the new Charity Governance Code.

Con Alexander, Partner, Veale Wasbrough Vizards LLP

Con has advised charities of all kinds for more than 15 years and specialises in helping clients with the governance and the strategic challenges that they face. Con acts for clients across the charity sector, from small social enterprises to universities and charities operating nationally and internationally. He is a member of the Charity Law Association and has sat on a number of CLA working parties. Con is also the author of ‘Charity Governance’ (published by Jordans).

Vicky Williams, Senior Manager (Non-Profits), Crowe Clark Whitehill LLP

Vicky Williams is an audit manager in the Non Profit team of Crowe Clark Whitehill LLP. Vicky qualified and joined Crowe in 2013, specialising in non-profits. Since joining Crowe she has worked with a range of schools, academies, student unions and national charities.

Ian Burrows, Head of Charities (Midlands), Brewin Dolphin

Ian Burrows is a specialist Charity Investment Manager and a Divisional Director of Brewin Dolphin. Ian has 17 years’ experience in the investment industry, is a Chartered Wealth Manager and Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI). Ian is also a member of the CISI Expert Panel writing and reviewing exam questions, holds the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners Certificate for Financial Services and is a member of investment sub-committee of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charities.

Eoghan Daly,Manager Forensic and Counter Fraud Services ,Crowe Clark Whitehill LLP

Eoghan is an experienced project manager and has worked with organisations across the private and public sector. His experience includes the delivery of complex and multi-stakeholder projects related to a wide variety of topics. Projects delivered by Eoghan have informed the development of government policy, improved risk assessment and risk management, and strengthened supply chain safety and integrity.

Eoghan led the development of Crowe’s cybercrime and data protection services. He has spoken widely on the topic of counter fraud and cybercrime and how organisations can apply good practice to strengthen resilience.

Richard Levinge, Director, Ease Training

Richard Levinge is the Director and founder of Ease Training. Richard has been Chair of a charity and a founding trustee of a major charitable project. Richard has a passion for practical training based on many years training experience with roles in the Royal Navy, legal services, charities and education.
