CyberFirst Girls Competition winners revealed!
On 24-25 March, 10 teams from schools across the country competed in the annual CyberFirst Girls Competition run by the NCSC (a part of GCHQ) and the winners have now been revealed!
The problem-solving and code-cracking competition, which took place in The Playfair Library in Edinburgh, saw the team from the Royal Masonic School in Hertfordshire awarded the prestigious CyberFirst 2019 trophy. The team, who proved themselves as the UK’s most cyber-savvy girls, also took home a brand-new laptop each and £1,000 worth of computer equipment for their school.
This year over 12,000 young girls entered the competition and with the UK facing a shortage of cyber security skills, it is absolutely fantastic to see many young women getting involved and potentially considering a career within the sector.
All 10 of the teams who reached the Grand Final, including ‘The Cheesepuffs’ from Denmark Road School, will also be travelling to Windsor Castle later this year to enjoy tea with HRH the Duke of York, who continues to be passionate about supporting this annual competition.
Congratulations to the team from the Royal Masonic School on their excellent achievement!
